Community Health Nursing is a philosophy of nursing followed at GS College and School of Nursing that involves services like promotive, preventive, and rehabilitative care of patients. In other words, the organization provides door-to-door services to maintain and monitor the health of communities. These Community Health Nursing services provide care to individual, families and communities through community need assessment, screening of high-risk groups, community diagnosis, health surveillance and monitoring and evaluation of community health status. Community health nursing is a synthesis of public health and nursing theory that applies to promote, prevent and maintain public’s health.
The course deals with promotive, preventive and rehabilitative care to individual, families and communities. The practice emphasizes short term and long term care of the people with the cooperation and coordination of community health nursing officers and other community health care workers.
The students and teachers are continuously involved in various community health services such as mass health education, health camps, immunization services, school health programs, blood donation camps, geriatric care etc. After completing this course, the students become competent in their field and deliver smooth community health care.
